Limestone Drum

Stone furniture such as this drum carved out of limestone were commonly placed in Chinese gardens and courtyards to reduce the amount of indoor furniture that would have to be moved to accommodate an outdoor gathering. Carved in the early 19th century from a solid block of stone, the object wears its age proudly, with the original textured decoration and painted sections still visible. Fantastic as functional sculpture indoors or out.
