Plank Top Altar Table with Everted Ends

With everted ends and square legs, this altar table expresses classic Qing-dynasty design, but the hand-carved spandrels are extraordinary and truly set the design apart. Trimmed with a finely beaded edge, the spandrels are carved with a scrolled vine motif, pierced to give the solid table a light, airy feel. It was crafted in the Shanxi region of China over a hundred fifty years ago, and age has only added to the beauty and luster of its northern elmwood finish.
