This petite round early 19th century display table from Northern China was hand-carved out of northern elm. It was likely used to support a ritual or decorative object. It features gentle cabriole legs that end in abstract auspicous cloud ruyi, symbols of good fortune. The surfaces are smoothly worn and deeply patinated.
