Stools were a ubiquitous part of Chinese life for thousands of years. This provincial stool has a simple, elegant design: three legs and a butterfly shaped seat. Despite its modern aesthetic, it was made in Northern China over a hundred and fifty years ago. An artisan carved it out of elm wood, beautifully integrating the solid joinery as part of the overall design.
