A hundred and fifty years ago this elegant cabinet would have been one of the centerpieces in the studio of a Chinese scholar in Jiangsu province. The open selves would have made it ideal for storing books, scrolls, precious antiques, and calligraphy brushes. This bookcase has four shelves with finely carved side rails depicting dragons and the character “Shou”, symbolizing “Good Fortune”.
