This low bench is actually an elongated step used to more easily get in and out of a raised daybed. Crafted using mortise-and-tenon joinery, the step has a low profile, with short splayed legs and a thick plank top surface. The plank top is likely formed of an elmwood board reclaimed from Qing-dynasty architecture and is beautifully textured with notches and grooves that hint at the wood's previous use. Today, the step finds its place in modern interiors as a low coffee table, as a bedside footstool or placed beneath a large artwork.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
