Dated to the early 20th-century, this petite box was woven of thin bamboo strips and finished with a putty-like substance known as thayo, comprised of black lacquer and sawdust. The box is formed with a continuous weave that bends to a square form, reinforced by wooden rods on the lid. Used for general storage of small items, the humble box is a work of art in itself and a beautiful example of a traditional craft.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
