Censer bowls are designed to hold burning incense, and have been used in China for thousands of years. Incense was made from dried aromatic plants and essential oils and had different uses: to perfume sheets or clothes, as a way to warm your hands in winter, or for religious ceremonies and prayers. This beautiful bowl was made in China’s Henan Province over 150 years ago. It is cast in bronze with a classic tripod base, two looped handles, and an exquisite guardian fu lion incised into the side.
