An exquisite example of Meiji-era embroidery, this late-19th century Japanese tapestry depicts a delicate scene of white egrets perched amid climbing wisteria vines. The fine needlework is rendered in a palette of pastels and earth tones, in soft contrast to the rich, golden brown silk backing. Composed in accordance to traditional paintings, the tapestry captures the ephemeral beauty of springtime within the gestural movements of each reaching tendril and cascade of blossoms. A fine gilt frame further enhances the delicate sheen of the textile's exceptional needlework.

We are thrilled to present this work of fine Japanese textile art, recently deaccessed from the private collection of an established Chicago bank, exhibited within their executive suite.
