Trunks were the most ubiquitous type of storage used in Ming and Qing China. This early to mid-18th century example from Shanxi Province is unusual, with a slightly domed top. Its original black lacquer has aged with a beautiful crackle. The original red interior is intact and the original, handsome solid brass fittings are in place.
