To keep her elaborate hairstyle intact while sleeping, a well-to-do woman once used this ceramic headrest as a pillow. Dating to the late Ming dynasty, this glazed headrest embodies the quiet simplicity of the era. A glassy blue-green glaze drips and pools down the headrest's sides, contrasted by an opaque creme white glaze with a crazed finish. With clean lines and gentle curves, the headrest looks wonderful as a sculptural object placed on a console table or bookcase.

Several antique repairs are visible along the edges of the headrest.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
