Cast Iron Tea Pot

This sculptural iron teapot was cast in Northern China during the early 20th century. Before tea became a popular drink, it was used medicinally to prevent many different diseases. A 16th-century Chinese medical book describes tea as a remedy for tumors, bladder complaints, and inflammation of the chest.
