This blue-and-white porcelain brush pot would have been right at home in a Qing-dynasty scholar’s studio. Brushed with a rich cobalt blue glaze, the pot is painted with a traditional design of serpentine dragons soaring towards a flaming pearl, an emblem of the sun, of the moon, of balance, and of power. Once intended to hold brushes, pens, and other calligraphy tools, this lovely pot takes pride of place on any surface as a small cachepot or decorative bowl.
