This large glazed pot was hand-crafted in Shanxi province over a century ago. Masterfully sculpted, the pot is adorned with four portraits of blossoming flowers, each framed with an ornate border. Just below the rounded lip is a densely textured, high relief trim of bead- and rope-like motifs, contrasting the delicate floral portraits. A rich terra cotta glaze draws out the warmth of the clay beneath, accentuating the dimension of the high relief design and setting off the pot with a glossy surface.
