This 19th-century lattice bench is an exceptional example of Qing-dynasty craftsmanship. Constructed with a tall lattice back and arm rests, the bench was originally used in an opera house, intended as seating for patrons of theater performances. Such benches were also used by musicians playing before an admiring audience seated on the floor. This high-backed bench is elevated on tapered legs linked by a simple footrest, and adorned with subtly carved scrollwork beneath the arm rests. With elegant proportions and clean lines, the bench makes for a wonderful addition to an entryway or living room.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
