More portable than chairs, stools were a versatile seating option for Qing-dynasty scholars, nobles, and peasants alike. This provincial stool dates to the turn of the century and would have been used throughout a courtyard home as versatile everyday seating. The tapered stool features a narrow, rectangular seat supported by four splayed legs linked with straight side stretchers and floor stretchers that double as footrests. Weathered from years of use, the stool has an unfinished surface that reveals its fantastic character and rustic, wabi-sabi texture.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
