Carved in the late 19th century in northern China, this limestone washing stone would have been used by a Qing-dynasty woman for washing clothes and textiles. Used by beating wet fabrics against its smooth surface with a wooden washing stick, washing stones were an integral part of Chinese daily life. Its broad surface and beautifully carved make this washing stone an ideal display stand or garden ornament.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
