Used to store wine or other spirits, this tall jar dates from 1900. Choosing a simple shape, the potter shows off his talent in the beautiful glazing technique. A thin base glaze warms the surface while allowing the ripples of its spun manufacture to show. Two layers of glaze, one dark brown and the other opaque ochre, drip freely from just below the rim, accentuating the jar’s shape as well as the unpredictable and fluid nature of glaze.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
