A thick black glaze softly covers the tapered form of this early 20th-century jar, once used daily in a Qing-dynasty kitchen. The petite jar is shaped with gently sloping sides and high shoulders topped by two small strap handles. The lustrous glaze has a soft sheen and deepens in color as it sheets and pools across the textured ceramic body. Lightly crazed and textured by firing imperfections, this kitchen jar boasts a natural speckled pattern that calls to be touched.
