This steel side cabinet by artist Jim Rose exemplifies industrial chic with timeless simplicity and handcrafted touch. Inspired by Shaker minimalism, the chest is crafted from found steel with a hot rolled steel frame and legs made from salvaged pipes. The patchwork panels on the doors and sides make use of the original painted texture of the found materials, making this modern steel cabinet a model of sustainable design.

Rose’s characteristic patchwork patterns were inspired by the Quilts of Gee's Bend, Alabama. Gee's Bend quilts feature colorful designs made from various abstract and geometric pieces of fabric. Tones of blue, green, gray, and rust enliven the simple steel form with a playful display of color and texture. Small in scale, this low cabinet is ideal tucked into an alcove or placed beside a sofa.
