Piecing together discarded fragments of painted metal, Gordon Chandler exploits the latent beauty of rusted and weathered metal in this provocative sculpture. Effaced by time and the elements, the panels that comprise this shirt-like composition have the look of finely brocaded or woven fabrics with rivets and slots wryly serving as buttons and buttonholes. Composed of metal sheets with the remnants of red, white and blue that were once were once part of a functional object, the sculpture transforms the detritus of the Rust Belt into a work of art to be appreciated for its conceptual content as well as abstract beauty.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
