This 19th-century storage cabinet is intricately hand-painted in the Sino-Tibetan style with brightly pigmented gouache paints in a palette of yellow, orange, green, and black. The cabinet front is divided into six inset panels, each painted with round medallions of trailing vines and peony blossoms against a golden yellow field. The upper four panels are hinged doors that open to a simple interior fitted with a single shelf. The surrounding frame is darkened by black lacquer and painted with gilt florals and Shou characters (壽) of longevity.
