This unique glazed jar was hand crafted in northern China over a century ago, during the Qing Dynasty. It is decorated with stunningly detailed relief designs—the flowers have individualized petals, the cherry blossom branches are finely textured, and pattern around the rim is delicately scalloped. It is glazed inside and out which indicates it was likely originally used for fermenting foods--possibly even the delicacies that are known as 100 year old eggs.
