This whimsical set of early 20th century wall sconces exemplifies the elegance of French Art Deco lighting with sculptural form and a soft, delicate appearance. A style defined by bold geometric lines, exuberant florals and luxurious embellishments, the Art Deco movement of the 1920s and 30s celebrated the refinement made possible by industrial production and reimagined art, architecture, and design in major cities throughout the world. Each of these sconces embraces Deco style with a clear frosted glass shade molded to the form of three curled acanthus leaves. The floral glass shades are affixed to a semicircular nickel-plated bronze frame decorated with curvilinear abstract forms. The sconces are each wired with two sockets and are in working condition.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.
