Made for sharing and offering wine and spirits, this small table once gathered together convivial imbibers who engaged in group toasts and robust consumption. Dated to the 19th century, the table is crafted of elm with mortise-and-tenon joinery, without the use of nails and screws, and features four recessed legs and a narrow, floating-panel tabletop. The round legs are linked by double stretchers on the sides and straight stretchers along the front, accented by spandrels that mirror the carved apron. Humpback stretchers along the front provide additional support and frame the simply carved spandrels.
