Petite Flanked Hoof Foot Altar

This beautifully proportioned table with slender legs and hoofed feet was made in China’s Shanxi province. The elm wood has a dark brown finish achieved by applying many layers of lacquer. Over 150 years ago, this elegant table probably held an important place in the home of a Qing-dynasty family, as their ancestral altar.
