This clean-lined side table is comprised of a square puddingstone top elevated by a powder-coated steel base of modern design. If flipped over, the stone top converts into a round basin, ideal as a catch-all dish or filled with sand for burning incense.

The squared basin was hand-carved of solid puddingstone, a conglomerate rock embedded with pebbles of various minerals. Named for its intriguing appearance resembling a pudding studded with raisins, puddingstone has historically been a favored material for Chinese painting tables and incense stands, appreciated for its dense texture, rich brown color and irregular composition.
