Created from naturally formed burl wood, this brushpot once held select calligraphy brushes in a scholar’s studio. Placed beside his inkpot and insktone, this brush pot would have stirred the imagination and inspired contemplation of the complexities of nature. The pot takes its free form shape from a tree burl, a knotted disruption of wood grain that was prized by Chinese artists for its gnarled and twisted character.
